Solving Fuel Odor Issues in Your Miata

I'm a self-taught software engineer in NC, USA.

If you have a fuel smell coming from your NA or NB Miata, this is the first place I would check. Look at your fuel filler tube. You’ll need to take off some of the carpet and a metal cover that covers this area. After that, if the smell gets stronger, or your filler tube looks like the one in this picture, there’s a good chance that’s the reason.

I’ve included the part numbers for replacements below. In the pic above, I went ahead and wire wheeled the bracket as well to get the corrosion off, and even put in some fresh new hardware.
